Privacy Policy for Copy2Note

Effective Date: August 29, 2025

1. Information Collection and Use

Copy2Note uses an OAuth2 flow to connect to your Notion account for the purpose of authenticating your access and allowing the extension to create pages in your Notion workspace on your behalf. We also temporarily access the content of web pages you are browsing when you use the extension's features to copy text. This content is only processed to be sent to Notion and is not stored or transmitted by Copy2Note to any other location.

We store your configured settings, such as your target Notion page or database ID and custom hotkeys, locally in your browser's storage. This allows the extension to remember your preferences for future use.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your Notion account authorization solely for the following purposes:

  • Authenticating your access to the Notion API.
  • Authorizing the extension to create new pages or database entries in your chosen Notion workspace.
  • Sending the text you select, along with the source URL, to be added to your Notion page.

The content of the web pages you interact with is processed locally in your browser to identify and copy the text you have highlighted. This data is transmitted securely and directly to Notion's API and is not stored or logged by our servers.

3. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal information or your Notion data with any third parties, except when required by law. The extension directly interacts with the Notion API on your behalf, and your data remains within your Notion account, subject to Notion's own privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We do not retain your Notion access token on our servers; it is managed by the Chrome Identity API and stored locally. Your locally stored configuration settings will remain in your browser's storage until you manually clear them or uninstall the extension.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to help protect your information. Access to your Notion workspace is secured through Notion's OAuth 2.0 protocol, and all data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your local settings are stored within the secure context of your browser's storage.

6. Permissions We Request

Copy2Note requests the following permissions:

  • `activeTab`: Allows the extension to access the currently active tab to retrieve selected text and the page URL when you use a hotkey.
  • `identity`: Used for the secure OAuth2 authentication flow with your Notion account.
  • `scripting`: Permits the extension to execute a script on the current page to retrieve the highlighted text.
  • `storage`: Enables the extension to store your configuration settings (like your target Notion page ID and hotkey) locally in your browser.
  • `host_permissions`: Required to securely send data to Notion's API at `https://api.notion.com`.

7. Your Rights

Since we do not store your personal information on our servers, many traditional data rights (like requesting access to or deletion of data we hold) do not directly apply. You have full control over your Notion account and the data within it. You can revoke Copy2Note's access to your Notion account at any time through your Notion account's “My connections” settings.
